Poor Life Choices, aka Paul Orehovec, is first and foremost a storyteller, turning life’s misadventures into songs that are as entertaining as they are relatable. Born in Wooster, Ohio, and raised in Miami, Florida, Paul blends country, folk, reggae, and rock into a sound that is fun, heartfelt, and emotionally resonant. His songs range from humorous and offbeat to reflective. They explore the highs, lows, and absurdities of everyday life.

Poor Life Choices’ shows are unpredictable and engaging, with crowd participation and sing-alongs. Since his setlists are never the same, each performance is a new adventure. He has toured extensively from Nashville to Key West in recent years and continues to expand his run of shows across the country. Before fully committing to music in 2020, Paul spent over 15 years in Los Angeles working in television, contributing to hit shows like The Closer and Major Crimes. That storytelling background gives his songs a cinematic edge, rich with character and vivid detail.

At home in Nashville, Paul also co-writes with up-and-coming country artists, collaborating to bring their stories to life. Poor Life Choices’ debut album, June Bug In July, arriving Summer 2026, showcases his signature style, featuring crowd favorites like Drag Queen At The Gun Range, Jesús Take The Wheel, and About Shucking Time.
