Ancient City Poets

The Ancient City Poets Spotlight features nine Ancient City Poets. Hosted by Chris Bodor, Florida Beat Poet Laureate. 

The Ancient City Poets host a free community open mic poetry show on the last Sunday of each month. This event allows poets of all skill levels to share their work in a supportive environment. Founded in 2009, by Chris Bodor, the group aims to foster a love for poetry and creative writing. 

Chris Bodor is a first generation American. He was born in 1967 in Connecticut to an English mother and a Hungarian father. After working for ten years in film production and audio-visual services in New York City, Bodor moved to Florida in 2003. In Florida, he was asked to start up a monthly poetry reading in August of 2009 in St. Augustine. In 2023, he was named the Florida State Beat Poet Laureate by the National Beat Poetry Foundation.

Following the Ancient City Poets, poets who have something to share are welcome to participate in the Community Open Mic. Sign-up sheet available at 6:30pm.
